The University of Coimbra (UC) is an institution for the creation, critical analysis, transmission and dissemination of culture, science and technology that contributes to economic and social development, the protection of the environment, the promotion of social justice and enlightened citizenship and the consolidation of sovereignty based on knowledge, through research, teaching and provision of services to the community.

UC has eight Faculties: Arts, Law, Medicine, Science and Technology, Pharmacy, Economics, Psychology and Educational Sciences, Sport Sciences and Physical Education.

UC's Innovation and Knowledge Transfer Division is a unit geared towards the areas of links with external entities, innovation, knowledge transfer and entrepreneurship.
